At-Home Emergency Dental Care: Temporary Pain Relief Tips

If you are facing a dental emergency and waiting for your appointment, these at-home remedies can help manage pain and protect your oral health until our emergency dentist can treat you:

  1. Severe Toothache Rinse gently with warm salt water to clean the area and reduce inflammation.
  2. Facial Swelling Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the outside of your cheek for 10–15 minutes at a time to control swelling and numb the area.
  3. Acute Pain or Discomfort Take over-the-counter medication, such as Ibuprofen or acetaminophen, to manage pain levels. Follow label instructions carefully.
  4. Extreme Tooth Sensitivity Avoid triggers that worsen the pain, such as hard foods, extreme hot or cold temperatures, and sugary drinks.
  5. Dislodged or Broken Tooth Save any tooth fragments and keep them moist in a saline solution or milk. Bring them with you to your appointment.
  6. Bleeding Gums or Cuts Apply gentle but firm pressure with clean gauze or a damp tea bag to the area to slow bleeding.

These methods provide only temporary relief. Professional dental care is essential to prevent infection or permanent damage. Call our office for emergency treatment.

As many people who hate going to the dentist, I am no exception, but I have to say, this is the best place I’ve ever gone to. The staff is incredibly friendly and the doctor is amazing! He does a fantastic job minimizing any pain. 5 stars all the way! I’ve never felt so relaxed going to a dentist before!

Dr. Kumar is absolutely amazing! I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is horrible if you have to go to the dentist, but my experience was absolutely wonderful! When I walked into the office I had tears in my eyes and Candy and McKenzie were extremely warm and assuring that everything would be okay, and offered nitrous oxide to keep me calm! I took them up on it!!!!! Dr. Kumar was extremely kind and he worked incredibly fast! I will never go to another dentist! They have a client for life! Thank you everyone who helped me!!!!!!
